It is with sadness that we report the death of Matthew Cross on 23rd October 2017. This was tragic and unexpected, and followed complications after planned surgery in July. He was only 17 years of age. Matthew had asperger syndrome and had an ABA programme with us in 2005/6. We remember him as a hardworking creative and fun loving boy with a wry sense of humour.
He was always writing stories about frogs, some of which featured in our magazine “Speach”. He also did various fundraising activities for our charity and other charities too. Matthew’s mum was a member of our board of trustees for 8 years, and in the summer of 2016 Matthew did some work experience in our offices. He worked industriously and produced some excellent spreadsheets which have proved really valuable to us. Matthew worked hard at Charters School and achieved a stunning set of GCSEs results in the summer of 2017. We feel these two pictures give a real flavour of the Matthew we knew.
It is difficult to understand the grief parents feel at such a time but our thoughts and sympathy go out to Matthew’s family. He was a bright boy with a positive outlook and a bright future ahead of him. He had worked so hard and come so far, his loss is very cruel. We will always remember him with affection.
RIP Matthew Cross
