Long Term Intervention

We provide full support packages that provide tailored, 1:1 support to help children develop their skills at home or school.

Full Support Package

Our long-term programmes offer tailored 1:1 support to your child in a number of areas. We highly recommend researching behaviour analysis (also known as Applied Behaviour Analysis, or ABA) before committing to long-term support. Depending on your requirements, you may also want to consider a short-term programme.

What help will my child get?

We will develop tools and teaching techniques that will help your child make progress in the following areas, as appropriate to their age:

  • Communication skills
  • Independence with self-help skills
  • Social and play skills
  • Ways to manage behaviours of concern such as anxiety or self-injury
  • Language skills
  • Learning skills and targets in line with the National Curriculum
  • Inclusion into mainstream nursery or school with appropriate support (subject to school agreement).

Full support packages can be based at home or school or, more usually, a mix of the two – depending on the child’s age and needs.

Your child will receive 25 hours or more of 1:1 support from a team of tutors trained in behaviour analysis.

What does this look like in practice?

You will be assigned a case manager who will:

    • Assess your child
    • Design a tailor-made programme for them
    • Train and support you and others to deliver the programme
    • Support you in finding (un)trained tutors or volunteers
    • Meet with the school/nursery to discuss training staff there
  • We will provide a free preliminary online call where you can speak to a qualified case manager and any questions
  • If you are happy to proceed, we then run an initial 12-hour workshop. During this workshop, your child will be assessed using various measures, including the VB-mapp and Vinelands.
  • Based on this assessment, we will recommend what goals your child should work towards –  typically building up to between 10 and 15 targets.
  • You and your support team will receive training to help your child achieve the agreed targets. This includes school staff if your child is in school or nursery.
  • Your case manager will run follow-up workshops with you and your support team. These are typically run for three hours every three weeks.
  • At these workshops, your case manager will monitor progress and update your child’s targets based on observation and evidence. They will also provide ongoing training.
  • Written feedback will be provided after each workshop or school visit. Between workshops, you can contact your case manager for help and support.

How much does the programme cost per year?

Our annual costs start from £6,202 plus travel.

Please note that if you are using tutors, you will need to budget for these additional costs.
